Hi i was admitted in the US on a j1 non-immigrant visa, then i was out of status until i got married to a US citizen. Now waiting for my interview. Reading on a selective service website i found out that people who were here on a non-immigrant visa but then went to out of status, as well as undocumented immigrants, citizens and permanent residents age 18-25 are suppose to register. I genuinely didn't know this as i thought this is only after you get your permanent resident card you're suppose to register. Im 24 years old. Should i register right now, or should i wait after i receive my conditional green card? And might this effect my naturalization process down the road? Please share if someone had similar experience. Thanks

You are male, right? You should register now. But the Adjustment of Status should register you automatically too (there is a section on the I-485 where you give permission for them to register you). But since you are still under 26, it doesn't hurt to register yourself to make sure it gets done. As long as you registered, it will not hurt naturalization or any other benefits down the road.
This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.
