I'm in a bizarre (but maybe not?) situation: I interviewed for my GC three weeks ago. The interview went well and at the end of the interview I was given a letter in which under the "Notice of interview results", the IO checked the box that says my application has been recommended for approval. I take that as being approved on the spot. Yet my case status has shown "Interview Was Completed And My Case Must Be Reviewed" ever since. Is this common? How long does it typically take until the case status changes to approved or something like that, or will it stay "must be reviewed" forever?

Approved on the spot but case must be reviewed?

I have read many reports of the same situation. In some cases, the status never changes even when people receive their green cards. Each case is different. I hope you get your card soon.Nov 2018 - Package sent - EB - Texas Service Center

Formally, the IO only "recommends" approval, and this decision is reviewed and signed off by a more senior officer for a final approval. (Or something like that.)USC married to a Canadian on TN status in San Francisco
