  • Affidavit from parents for late registration birth certificate

My wife has a late registration birth certificate, thus we plan to submit also affidavits from her parents as secondary evidence.

    1) As her parents are non-English speaker, what is the best practice to deal with this situation?
    • Option 1: Do we need to submit affidavits in both their native languages and english version? And then giving a certification / verification statement that the English version is an accurate translation of the native language that her parents understand?
    • Option 2: Submit affidavit in their native language and then translate & certified the affidavit into english?
    • Option 3: Submit only english version with a statement that we drafted and interpret the affidavit for them?

    2) Should we submit the original, notarized affidavits, or can we submit a (scanned) copy of the affidavits? Her parents are not in the US, and sending an international mail during this pandemic may take some time.
