  • Instructions indicate to put N/A but fields do not allow entry of N/A

The instructions for form I-130 among others indicate to put "N/A" in any fields which are not applicable, unless otherwise noted.

When filling out the electronic PDF provided by the USCIS website, many of the fields which are not applicable do not allow entry of "N/A" because they do not allow non-alphanumeric characters.

Should these fields be left blank, or should we write in N/A on the printed form?

I've seen some posts on this site that indicate the USCIS may reject forms if they don't include "N/A" but many of these are older, so I am not sure if this applies with the latest electronic forms.

Either turn off JavaScript in Acrobat Reader, enter the "N/A", and then turn JavaScript back on, or just write it in by hand.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.
