  • 37 days after expedite approval and no EAD decision

    What do I do?
    Do I open a SR?
My PD is mid September and I was able to get my EAD expedited as a COVID-19 local health department epidemiologist. Now it’s been 36 days after expedite request is approved. I have biometrics on file yet no decision on my EAD.
I have lost my first position yesterday as the department had no choice but to put up a vacancy but luckily I got another job offer to resume on January 4. I cannot lose this position as it is one of the best things that can happen to my career. What do I do? Please help

I’m sorry to hear about your situation. When you say your expedited request was approved or the EAD itself was approved? Those are two different things. Request approved just means they’ll consider your request out of line and it may or may not lead to ead approval itself. Whereas ead approval is exactly that and you should get your ead. What exactly is the status showing for ead online? And did you have your biometrics done this time? Also who’s your sponsor?

I am self petitioning. My EAD expedite request has been approved, 36 days ago. But there is no decision on my EAD since then. I contacted USCiS about biometrics and I was told there is a biometrics applied to my case.
my ead status shows “Expedite request approved” and it’s been that way for a month plus.

Oh that is weird. You should have the EAD if your requested and EAD approved. I would suggest you contact the Tier 2 officer, local Congressman and the USCIS Ombudsmen regarding your case. Did they atleast send you the EAD approval mail?
