Hi All,
My wife and I just got through our interview today (we got approved before getting back home). Everyone's stories here were helpful so thought I'd pass our experience down.
The officer was nice and friendly, he took our Passports and IDs and walked out of the room after swearing us in. He came back and asked me to provide fingerprints as well as taken my picture. He did mention how nervous both of us were, neither of us actually felt nervous until he actually said that. He did not separate us and later down the road, he said it would make no sense to do that to us.
First was my wife, the officer went over the i485 form about me with her asking her about my name, date of birth, place of birth, my parents where they live / how old they are. Additionally, he asked about the last 3 addresses of where she lived and if she was married ever before and the same question about me, where I live if I was married before, etc. That took about 5-10 minutes but it felt as if it took forever
Next was my turn, during this process the officer asks you not to look at your partner at all. We went through the entire i485 and I ended up signing the form. He clarified that the first part of the interview was just to make sure my wife knows things about me.
At that point, he said that we both can start talking and fill him in on stuff, he asked if we know each other phone numbers, and he took them down. Asked us how we met and we talked about the early days/weeks of our relationship. He asked about phone plans, what carrier we have etc. Throughout the entire process, he was taking notes. This didn't take longer than 10 minutes. At which point he said this couldn't be more straightforward of the case and that he will make a decision by end of the day. He didn't take a look at our photos, but we did ask him he wants to take a look at those and he went through them chatting along.
The card was in production by the time we got home. My wife did trip up on some dates when we met (years), and also the town where I was born she had no idea but that's about it. The experience was good and the officer was friendly.
Good Luck to everyone going through the process
