Hi Guys,
Just wanted to update and share some concerns on my I-485 spousal interview, adjusting status from F-1. We had the interview in San Diego beginning of January at the San Diego field office.
INTERVIEW
A week prior we got a phone call to come in an hour earlier to our scheduled appointment time and we did not receive any updated notice.
We arrived 15 minutes before and there seemed to be a line. We waited for about an hour as many folks were being called in. Some officers informed them that they may only allow 2 people and attorney over the phone but ours was very nice and allowed the 3 of us into his office.
The interviewing officer was very professional and seemed interested in our relationship. He swore us in and he started going through the I-130 first by asking my USC spouse's birth certificate, passport etc. We then moved to the I-485 and a couple of the long yes/no questions were asked and anything that I answered yes on was explained thereafter. The interviewing officer verified a lot of elements and was scanning through our applications and photo's. He also asked documents to proof our bonafide marriage. We provided tax returns, memberships, lease, and joint documents. He also asked both of us what what we liked about each other and despite the mask, we saw that we put a smile on his face since the love story part was fun to tell.
Everything seemed fine and after +- 45 min we were asked to sign a document about the removal of conditions and that we can file this 90 days before the expiration of my conditional Green Card.
RFE
The next dat we received a letter in the mail from the field office enclosed with a RFE. The RFE was pretty straightforward with two bullet points requesting I-20's of my previous schools, and another bullet point to include enrollment verification, tuition statements and other documents- all in a sealed school envelope. This has been difficult to get due to the pandemic as most schools operate remotely. I am just a little worried about the fact that I found out that my school does not have my I-20's anymore, and there was a brief gap of a couple weeks when I transferred from one school to another. Luckily the school wrote a nice letter explaining the mess up they made. Will hope and count on the best!
Any thoughts and experiences are welcome. Thanks a lot guys, and any thoughts will be appreciated.
