Proxy marriage issue

Hello.i am from pakistan i moved to differnt country and got proxy marriage (religious marriage) .proxy marriage was valid in pakistan but not where i was living .i had plan to go back to pakistan and register the marriage but that never happened.then i applied usa visit visa and mentioned that i am marriad because i didnot wanted to hide anything so i thought when visa officer will ask thw question about marry i will inform him that this is proxy marriage but during interview he didnot askwd anything about marriage and approved my visit visa i came to usa fell in love with girl and want to get marry with her.i am confused what i should mention in my green card application that i was already marry or not. Because techenically and legally my proxy marriage is not valid as per law of where i was living during my proxy marriage and as per law of Usa .because this marriage is never consummate. If i enter in my green card application that i am married then i have to give them divorce paper. But this marriage is not registered anywhere so there is no way to get divorce even .

I think you need to consult an attorney! There is a very well known scam for people claiming to be married just to get visa easily and this is definitely a big red flag in your scenario! If anything I would advise do not put married in your filing documents if you are really not and if asked explain .

Some reasons why proxy marriages are not accepted are: married against the law, Insufficient legal documentation, Polygamous unions, or The marriage is for the acquisition of a green card. In addition, the state where the wedding is held will decide whether or not the union is legally binding.
