  • Translator Issues. had to reschedule interview now in limbo

Hi , we filed for AOS in November of 2019.
my husband did his biomatirics in Janurary of 2020
RADIO scilent due to covid till feburary 6th 20201
Interview set for March 22nd. 2021 On the letter it specificly states that if you are not fluent in elngish you should have a translator by phone due to covid 19 restrictions
Once we got to the window we where told to handing the original letter and was told by the person behind the window we cannot use our own translator they will provide us with one
once the IO called us up and asked for all our documentation she stated that she could not find a macedonian translator and once we said yes we have them by phone as requested by the letter she said she cannot accept that due to the fact that she needs to see him personaly !!! ( I WAS FURIOUS ) i made specific arangements for this translator by phone based on the letter and now your teeling me he has to be here. ???
she took most of my documents and told me that she would be back
within lik 45 minutes she comes back calls us inside and lets us know that we need to reschedule due to her not being able to speak to my husband and that i did not bring my translator.
after 2 years of waiting .. and 5 hours in the office . you gather it all based on their requirements they sent us and now we have to reschedule ?

I dont know what to do . she told me it would take 30-90 days for a reschedule and the email i recieved states 30 days.

anyone have any insite on this? i would love you hear your opintions
i am beyond stressed and dissapointed in how hard a person whos trying to get their documentation legaly keeps getting dumped on.

That is exactly what ours says too. We may have a translator on standby on the phone. Did you ask to speak to a supervisor? I wonder if the policy changed and they didn't update the letter sent.

I asked to speak to a supervisor and she came down spoke only to the IO and told her that there is nothing they can do even though the letter states one thing and the they say another. best advice is if you need a translator for a language that you know is hard to get a hold of take the person with you . even though the first person might tell you they wont accept them just incase they cant get a translator at least you have one at the ready and they wont be able to turn you away .

We had our translator show up even though it said for them to be on the phone. They let her in and she was able to translate. If they said no we were just going to have her do by phone.
