  • Assistance needed in form I-485

    Hi,

Could anybody help in filling the page 14 Part 8, item 61 - 62g? It is about the public charge and form I-944. Should I just skip all of them? I did use medicaid when I was a student and my wife was pregnant.

    Thanks

I guess you are using the previous form, please download the new I-485 with Edition 03/10/21 on the bottom left of each page.

The new form has questions 61 and 62 on page 13 (no sub-questions for 62)

Yes, I was thinking to use the previous form. It is still valid till April 19, 2021. The new form asks for evidence on public benefits and public assistance used. I had medicaid when I was student. I don't have any evidence for that.

If filling out the old edition (10/15/19), you would check No to item 61, check the box in item 62.d, and you don't need I-864 nor I-944.

Thank you newacct . Appreciate your help. I have another question if you could. I have a 3 speed camera citations in Maryland. In those citations, I had to just pay a fine of $40, and there were no points on license or history in the driving record. I am not sure if I have to report it under Part 8 item 25. If yes, does it adversely affect I-485 approval chances? I created another thread for it, but didn't receive any advise yet.

I think you should report them but you don't have to provide any documentation since they were under $500. It does not adversely affect the application.

Brother, I had dwi/driving after revocation/driving with out insurance/red light violation..... still got approved a month ago. It just took 8 months from beginning to end. This game are getting better in terms of processing time. Relax ! Besides, the public charge issue should not worry you. Even if you say you did use public benefits, the officers will not ask you anything about it. It has been removed as a condition to refuse greencard by the Biden administration new rules.
