My I-485 Case is outside normal processing times.I submitted an inquiry, what's next?

Hi everyone, I need some advice please.

Our AOS case I-485 is outside normal process times. the PD is 06/10/2019 and the time range for our field office is 12.5 Months to 18 Months with October 17, 2019 being the receipt date for inquiry as of today. I already sent an e-request about my case being outside normal processing times and online it says it's completed 2 weeks ago but I haven't received any emails or letters yet. Today I contacted USCIS again and this is exactly what they told me:

We regret the time it is taking to process your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status. Our records show that the processing of this case has been delayed because the required United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) review is still in process. Until USCIS completes the required review, we cannot move forward on this case. This review is part of the process for adjudicating cases of a similar nature. While an exact date for completion of the review is not known at this time, USCIS will make every effort to keep you informed of the next steps in this process. We regret that we are unable to provide you with an interview date at this time. We apologize for the delay. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding. If you need additional help or filling instructions, we invite you to visit our website at www.uscis.gov or contact our National Customer Service Center at 800-375-5283. We hope this information is helpful to you.

They said this is what the letter I should get says, and that they couldn't help with anything else at the time.
Just to give you some background info I'm married to a USC since April 2019. Arrived in the US on B1/B2 visa so it's my 4th time in the US and I came and left on different B1/B2 and different visas before. I got my first EAD in 2019, and got the second one "renewal" in 2020 and already applied for another renewal this year at the 6 month mark of the current one. I haven't received any RFE. I haven't submitted the Medical form with the application. I don't have any criminal history or any such thing was so ever, this is my first marriage and my wife is my same age. We didn't use an attorney.

The good thing is that whenever they process the case I'll hopefully get the 10 yrs GC or won't need to go through this process again. The bad thing is that I'm not really sure what's going on right now. I don't have an interview date yet, and my case is outside the normal processing times. What does that letter mean? What kind of review is that? Should I contact my congressman or senator to check with USCIS on my behalf?

When my EAD application was out of processing times, the e-request was not working for me, I called an agent and they gave me reference number. They said to wait 30 days for response, and if there isn't any, to call again. Eventually I graduated to a tier 2 officer and my application was processed. The problem now, is that it's extremely hard to get to talk to an agent over the phone, but they do have a live agent on Emma, so maybe try that?

Hi! I got my 10 years permeant green-card in September. After the 2 years mark of filing I contacted our senator's office who contacted USCIS on our behalf. Shortly after we received an interview notice and we were approved on the spot and the GC is 10 years because we had been married for over 2 years at the time of the interview! Don't lose hope.. it takes so long sometimes but then things will move forward. Good luck

How to get a live agent on the phone do you know?

If you google it you'll find which options you need to choose. I don't exactly remember. Best way is to chat with Emma and you can even request to have a tier 2 officer give you a call later.

I would write to your congress man, they are incredibly helpful and will do all the chasing for you. I feel it’s easy for the uscis to give you the run around but not so easy for them to do it to the congressman’s office. If you google your local congressman you will find their website and they have an online form for you to complete requesting help regarding immigration. Good luck. I’m similar as you, married to usc from a B1/2 visa so watching how you get on with interest.
