Security checks.

Family based I485. We had our interview on 10/15/20 in the Denver office. At that time, the officer told us it will be approved within 2 weeks. My I-130 was approved the following date, although it did not show online till 10/30. This was the time they had a glitch and all online updates were delayed.

It has been over 6 months and we heard nothing. Multiple requests and calls were ending up with standard line: you’re still working time frame.

I again created another online inquiry and this time got another answer: “Your case is currently delayed because the required security checks are still pending. We cannot make a decision on your case until we receive the results of these security checks.”

One would think that background checks are done prior to an interview. Anyone else experienced that? How long did it take to get the background check done?

Every case is different, I have seen reports that it takes a few months but others more than a year. No way to know when the checks will be done for your case. I hope you get your GC soon.
