I did not submit my medicals either. Considering the timelines at Nebraska (10.5 to 19 months), by end of march or April should be the time they should start looking into May filers. Not sure if i have to change my travel plans or have to break the vacation and come back.

I believe they should already be processing May filers because based on the processing time calculation, they would have already processed 50% of the cases in 10.5 months which means they should already be processing May filer cases right now.

So, i m not part of that 50%... Maybe because i did not submit my medical yet. So i have to wait from now to 9 months atleast. Is that the correct way to understand their processing time?

I-140 was applied on Jan 28 2021 but receipt date was March 31st.
I-485 May 25 2021. It was trasfered to Nebraska since I-140 is in Nebraska

got EAD n AP in Dec

also any idea - if get interview request, will I get sufficient time to travel back? Will they send request in advance?

I guess non-submission of medicals doesn't have anything to do with the delay in your case. It is just that they didn't get to your case yet. This is what USCIS says about how the processing times listed on their page should be read.

"Estimated time range: This column lists case processing times as a range for select forms and locations. The lower value of the range is the time it took us to adjudicate 50% of our cases. The upper value of the range is the time it took us to complete 93% of our cases. See below for a description of how these ranges are calculated."

I am in the same boat as you, infact even worse as even my I-140 which was submitted more than 15 months back is still pending. I guess I am in the 7% of the cases which falls beyond their typical processing times window. There is no way to say when your case will be picked up but just keep your hopes up that hopefully your case is adjudicated positively soon.

Like I said before, subscribe for USPS informed delivery so you know when you are receiving something from USCIS. If you may be handover your mailbox key so your close friend or someone, they can help tell you what it is when it is delivered. If it is interview notice, you would have at least a few weeks notice which should be enough time for you to return. So travel without any worries.

I am in exact the same boat as you. I-140 filed early Jan. I-485 filed in May. I-485 transferred to Nebraska because I-140 is in Nebraska. Still awaiting I-140 approval. I got the EAD AP combo card in Dec as well.

            • It seems like some May filers to Nebraska got their combo card in Dec/Jan and nothing since then, still waiting on combo card 11 months in now? Any May filer who got combo card recently? Employment based if that makes a difference, thx

I got my combo card in Dec'21 but my I-140 is still pending approval so I don't expect any progress on my I-485 at the moment.

                • Finally I-140 got approved yday.
Filed Jan 28 2021 but receipt date was March 31st.

Question - We are travelling May end. Since our I-140 got approved. Will the medical or interview dates will be sent over soon or does it take time?

With which service centre is your 485? I had read somewhere in USCIS website that typically when I140 is approved and 485 had been filled and is current, they would process it in parallel but not sure if it's happening that way. Would be curious to know from you.

                    • Finally some good news. I-140 got approved yesterday. Want the combo card more so I can travel, but in the longer term prob the better news if it had to be either one. Nebraska, app receipt May 26, EB2…now waiting for combo, or maybe even the big green master might be soon

                        nebraska.

our I-485 was not filed along with I-140.. but I-485 was transferred to Nebraska. It’s been 2 days after I-140 approval but no updates to I-485.

I believe the whole idea of transferring the 485 to the same location of your 140 is that they could review and process the 485 while 140 is being approved. I am not sure if this is how it is actually being followed though. I am in the same boat as you where my 140 was filed first and then I filed my 485 a couple of months later. They transferred my 485 to Nebraska where my 140 is being processed.

Hopefully your case gets picked up soon.

                          • Hello, looking for suggestions! please help. I am currently under the L1A visa (spouse with L2). I have an approved I140 and my I485 application is pending approval with USCIS for nearly 300+ days. I have received my EAD combo card (I765 / I131). My company X, applied for my I140 and I485 and I am desperately looking to change from Company X to a different one. Can I change my job now just using my existing EAD ? Will it affect my GC application ? Also, will I be able t change job because I am under L1A visa? I cannot direct these questions to my lawyer who works for our company and this would be escalated to my HR. I am trying to keep this as discreet as possible. Please provide some insights?

Yes, as long as your new job is a similar job to your old/current one, and your I485 has been pending more than 180 days(300 here), and in your case you have an approved EAD that allows you to work, then you should be good. I don’t know about the L1A piece, but normally, the underlining visa shouldn’t matter once you have EAD, because that is what will allow you to work with the new employer. This is called porting. You have to file a form I485J to let USCIS know about the job change and similarity of job. You can google it and there is plenty written about it from reliable immigration firms and even from USCIS. Hope this helps.
