Shall I get an immigration or regular lawyer for divorce?

Hi

i am a green card holder and my spouse a US citizen. We are very happy together and nowhere near divorce.
I have sent my application to immigration to become a citizen.
but I would like to know my rights anyway as a green card holder.
Do I have to consult an immigration or divorce lawyer?

Divorce does not automatically cancel/revoke green card. That being said it will depend and you might need both or none. If for example things are heated or you have kids involved you might need to seek divorce attorney first to finalize the terms of the divorce and then need immigration one to advise on your immigration process. My friend divorced during her conditional green card and used divorce attorney because they had a daughter. When she had to apply for her 10 year one she filled the paperwork by herself and last month she became a citizen, so it depend on your situation.
