Hello everyone,
I am new here and I'm not sure if this is the way to go or if there is answers for my questions already out there, hope y'all can help or guide me on the right direction. I just need help.
I arrived to the US back in 2015 with a F-1 student visa (I am Mexican, and currently live in Edinburg, Texas). I moved to the US because my mom got married to a US citizen and I started college here. She filed a petition for me and my brother but since we were already over 18, this type of petition would take about 20 years starting the time she filed for us in 2016. I was told that if I got married this petition would be basically disregarded because marrying an American would weight more. Time passed and 3 years later I met my current husband in college, a US Citizen, and got married in April 2019 (my graduation was in May 2019). At the time I was still in college and couldn't afford a lawyer so I went to a paralegal a friend recommended. He helped me file in June 13, 2019 for the I-485, the Employment Authorization Card with parole to be able to travel in case of emergency. About a month after, in July I received the appointment for fingerprints and went in 07/08/2019.
After that the next thing I received was my employment authorization card in November 2019. After that COVID hit and thought that was the reason why I wasn't getting the interview appointment. August 2020 came and renewed my EAD to be able to keep working. Still not interview or any email/mail/call asking for any additional information. December 2020 came and I got the EAD renewal. After that I got worried and went to a lawyer, he told me it was out of the normal processing time and we called USCIS. They did agree it was outside normal time and said they would have someone else check my documents and they would call me back. Lawyer told me to wait for the call, but honestly he seemed really lost too and didn't make me feel like he knew a lot about this situation. A month passed and no calls/email/mail from USCIS, they have my phone number fine, my email and address is current. I have moved a couple times (in the same city), but have always noticed USCIS on time and would always get a confirmation letter to new address. Don't have plans to and won't move again for awhile.
Now, this past month June 2021, I went to another lawyer (supposedly well known), and he basically told me he could not do anything for me other than use the tools online and try and call just like I have, because he did not start the process. Said something about doing fast info pass (like getting an appointment) but said that USCIS is not really giving those out too much. Does anyone know if this can be done? (My center is the one in Harlingen TX). And even if I was to hire him he might get the same answers I am getting and that I would only waste my money. That maybe his last resource would be refile my case but even then nothing is warrantied. At this point I don't know if I should look for another lawyer or if this is normal, although everyone, lawyers and friends have told me there is no way this is normal and there must be something going on. I can't rely on the original paralegal that helped me first because I feel he did something wrong and no way in the world I would do such thing again. I don't really know what to do anymore. I have called the USCIS and sent them emails multiple times and it's always the same: I talk to someone and I explain the lady I need to speak to someone else and she just says my case is outside processing times and that they will have an officer call me in two weeks and they just never call me back. I have also filled out outside processing time forms a couple times and still nothing.
Has anyone else gone through something like this? Is there a way that I can do something to get help? At this point I don't know if my mother's petition is affecting or if I have to do something with that like cancel it or something. I just need to know what I am missing and make this process move faster. Thanks a lot in advance, I am desperate.
