  • Biometrics requested a second time

Hi everyone. I need your advice figuring out what's going on with my case.

So, I submitted my original I-765 along with the I-485 back in October 2020. Both were MSC receipt numbers. USCIS rejected the I-765 saying it was improperly filed. My attorney refiled the I-765 in March 2021 and this time I got an IOE receipt.

In January 2021, I moved to a new address and filed AR-11. But somehow this AR-11 did not take effect. So in March while my attorney received a copy of a biometrics appointment notice, I did not. I submitted AR-11 again. This time I called USCIS a few days later and confirmed the address was updated. Now, I ended up doing my biometrics using my attorney's copy of the notice on 31st March 2021. So the application status changed to fingerprints collected. On 7 April 2021, the status changed to "notice was returned because USPS could not deliver it". This is because the biometrics notice they had sent me in March had finally been returned to USCIS as they had sent it to the wrong address (my old address). (USPS does not forwards government mails). But as I mentioned, I already did my biometrics using my attorney's copy of the biometrics appointment notice.

Now fast forward to June 25, 2020. My I-765 application status changes again to biometrics appointment notice was sent out on June 25, 2020.

I am confused. Why are they sending me another biometrics appointment notice?

    Hi,
As per my knowledge, it might be system error from their end or USCIS may wrongly sent two times since you are already completed Biometrics. Better, you can ask your Attorney to respond back to the center with the clear explanation. But, Please make sure you have taken action on the appointment notices.
    Thanks.

I have read a case or two like this. You need to go to your appointment and they may say that everything is in the system and no need for new biometrics or maybe they need to confirm something and will ask for a couple of fingers to confirm. Good luck.
