  • I-485 Interview was scheduled

Hello everyone, had a question about my I-485 interview. On June 25th, 2021 my online case status changed from "Interview is ready to be scheduled" to "Interview was scheduled". As of now (July 1st, 2021) I have not received anything in the mail.

I asked one of my friends who went through the process before and they told me that "Interview was scheduled" means my case is now at the local field office and the actual interview date may vary depending on the traffic the local field office has. Sometimes it can take weeks and other times it can take months. Is this accurate?

I was under the impression that "Interview was scheduled" meant the USCIS has already decided a date for my interview and I should be expecting mail to arrive in the mailbox within the next 7 days or so with the interview date in the notice.

Also, from what I have read they usually give us a month to prepare from the day the mail is in our hands. Just wanted to make sure there is enough time for my I-693.

    Thanks

I haven't followed much about the reports lately. A couple of years ago it was most likely to have the appointment 6 weeks after the status change and the letter to arrive between 7-10 days.

I hope things are going back to normal and that you get the letter soon (a couple of days more) and the interview to be the first half of August.

      Congrats on getting your interview!
Interview was scheduled means that they just selected your case for interview. The file is probably still at the NBC and will soon be in transit to the field office. You should have your interview letter within a week, maybe 2. They schedule interviews 4 to 6 weeks out.
