Immigration tips when moving to new home

Dear all,

I am moving to a new rental home in about a month. I have read stories like even after address change request, the address wasn't updated in USCIS system, and mails were sent to old address eventually people loosing them, and may be missing appointments and cards. I am kind of scared to be in that kind of situation. My biometrics is done, and I am waiting for my EAD/AP card right now.

I would like to hear tips and suggestions from members to avoid missing my EAD/AP card, any mail or appointments, especially in current scenario when the AOS process is extremely complex and slow.

We moved late last year (within the city). Filed https://www.uscis.gov/ar-11 for each pending receipt (I-485, I-765, I-131) and received an email that they made the change after a couple of weeks.
Tips:

• keep checking any movement online and contact USCIS if you don't get the letters.
• if you have a lawyer, they will get the letters too.
• make sure you get the email that they updated the address, if not, contact USCIS to confirm.
• understand that the change may delay your process but not always.
• from what I understand, we need to report the address change even after getting the GC within 10 days.

You will have to officially change the address with USCIS. What I can think of you can do is to chat with agent tru Emma once every two weeks and ask them for the latest update, that way you will at least know if anything was sent and if not received you will know they sent it to the old address. The reason I say that is because My online account was not working and our mailman is terrible ( he often losses mail), so I contacted and agent tru Emma and explain the situation and asked them what's the best way to stay up do date and he said I could log in and talk to them every two weeks and ask for update.

From my experience, I should say that the most difficult thing is to find an honest company for loading and transporting furniture and other valuables.

Before you start moving, make a detailed to-do list in advance, in a calm atmosphere, with a schedule to note what has already been done and what has not. Think in advance whether everything will fit in the new apartment. Get rid of unnecessary things: arrange a sale, give away, or throw away things you are unlikely to use. You will get more tips on this site. I recommend that you take a responsible approach to choosing a company engaged in loading and transportation. Experienced movers will quickly pack furniture and other items and transport them safely.
