Hello guys,
My wife was quoted 13k in legal fees from an attorney regarding her getting a green card..so like any other husbands we don’t really tune in until I’ve heard the figures and I’ve thought it was a ridiculous amount. (6k for appearance in immigration court, 3k to reopen closed immigration case, 6k for aos)
Anyhow. Here’s the story. My father in law came into the states as a H1-B visa and he brought his family over using his visa ( so I guess they entered with inspection?) back in 2000 or 2001. However, her father hired a crooked immigration lawyer who forged their paperwork and their case was dismissed and they received a voluntary deportation letter back in 2010 but they never left the country. Years go by and they received DACA status around 2013/2014 and we got married earlier last year in 2020.
Now, I’m trying to file for her green card using my citizenship as I am a naturalized US citizen, what would be the average attorney fee in SoCal and any pointers?
thanks for all your help.
