  • Employment Based GC - Adding a spouse on a pending I-485

Hello guys, wondering if anyone has added their spouse in the middle of the employment-based GC process, would you please share some experiences?

    My timeline:
    EB3
    PD: Aug 26 2019
    LC approved Jul 2020
    I140 file Jul 2020
    I765 I485 I131 filed for the primary applicant: Oct 28 2020
    I140 approved Jan 2021
    Married Feb 2021
EAD for primary applicant received Feb 2021
    I765 I131 I485 for spouse as a dependent on my case: Mar 19 2021
    Spouse's bio: Jun 14 2021
NO update on my spouse case ever since
NO update on my I485 ever since.

    Questions:
    1. Anyone that submitted in Mar already received EAD and AP? We sent the package to NBC
    2. I moved from California to Florida to begin working for my employer, my spouse still stays in California for school as we would like for her to maintain the status and all her credit for this school are nontransferable so that is why she could not move with me. I moved & update the new address with USCIS in May 4 and I received an email confirmation from USCIS on May 15.I recently contacted USCIS via phone and learned that NBC transferred my case to Field Office in Santa Ana California on Jun 1. That is quite awkward because NBC already acknowledged that I moved from California to Florida in early May already. I've checked around with some people and they told me that it is normal to transfer the case to the spouse's location and an interview is very likely to be triggered because we married less than 1 year. Anyone in the same situation? I have thought that because my case was filed first so they will adjudicated my case first, never thought that they will interview us both.
I am not sure if that is a mistake for USCIS to transfer my case to California or it is true that we needed to have an interview to verify the employment as well as the bonafide marriage. We are newly wedded and aren't currently living together so it does scare me quite a bit. Anyone has experience of adding a spouse in the middle of the process like this, please share some experience.

    Thanks.
