Changing from AOS to CP

I'm currently holding L1A, my I-140 was approved last year but i haven't submitted i-485. The current company is willing to relocate me to another country and i was told that they will submit form i-824 for me in order to switch me from AOS to CP. My question is, do i have to remain in the US until they submit i-824?
Would real appreciate any reply!

No, there’s no requirement that you remain in the US when the submit the I-824. It can be submitted at anytime.
