Hi. My wife has petitioned I-130 for me as a permanent resident. The I-130 application was received in February 2010, however I have not yet received an I-130 approval notice. The visa bulletin shows that category 2A is current. Can I apply for adjustment of status and send I-485 documents? Thanks a lot.

What is the 2a category. if you read through the form instructions, as long as you fall in one of their categories you can send them in at the same time. the I-130 and I-485Comment

2a means Family based 2A catagory(for spouse).
I called USCIS today, they told me that if applicant is citizen, then only you can applied I 130 and I 485 togather. It is not the same for PR holder. for filling I 485 you must attach approval letter of I 130 application.
I am confused in this matter, as some blogs mentioned that even without approval of I 130, you can file I 485 petition.Comment
