  • medical examination for AOS

    Hello
My wife came in USA on K-1( fiancee) visa. We got married within 3 months and promptly filled for AOS. Now we received notice from USCIS with the request to submit 1-693 form (medical examination). But she had done it just before she left her country and submitted the results to the USA consulate.
The instructions say that it is not required if the medical examination was conducted less than one year prior to filling of AOS. She will need to provide a vaccination record though.
When we called USCS they told us that we should make an appointment with the local office just to clarify the issue.
We have to provide the form I-693 in about a month, so there is no time for the clarification. Still, I do not want to pay twice for the same thing.
Unfortunately, calling to USCIS in most cases as useless as it has always been.
    I'd appreciate any input.
Thank you and good luck to all.

I have done that too. Mine was even a medical exam done here in the US prior to filling the AOS but they said that there are certain doctors that are accredited as civil surgeons. I have even done my PPD test but still they have to do it again because they need to be the one to read the results. You can save for the vaccinations though by just giving then your record. hence the only thing that you will have to pay is the PPD and the consult
