  • Class B Latent TB, X-Ray Clear for I-693

    Hello There,

Does this prevent the GC card from being approved?

İs there any problem Latent TB for Uscis?

    Thanks,

  • #2
It should be completely fine as long as the X-Ray is clear. Once your blood test is positive for TB it's always going to test +ve even when you take the optional medications for the Latent TB.
It's also possible that the blood test is only positive because you took a BCG vaccine for TB as a child, which is very common in some countries but not in America.

Is you interview coming soon? Did you just finish you medical?

Did they call you? This is the first time I read that USCIS calls someone and ask them to send the I-693. Always see that they send RFE, we received 2 RFE for I-693 never a call.

Because the X-ray is clear, you will not have problems for that. We all received Class B for different reasons, not TB, and just received the GCs. Good luck.

          thank you for information.

yeah me too and I didn't believe it because I had never read anything like this before, then when I confirmed the information, I believed it and a few days later the article came.

After how many days will they process and update?

Did the doctor give you medicine? Since the same situation has arisen, he has to give it and you have to prove that you have started the treatment. He gave me medicine and I am using it.

Our class B is not related TB, it is related to high blood pressure/high cholesterol. We take medicine every day.

The first time we sent the I-693 they updated around 3-4 weeks. This year it was faster than that. I have read that some cases do not get updated for unknown reasons but without affecting the process.

Since latent TB (Quantiferon blood test positive - X-Rah clear) came out, he gave me a lot of medicine for TB and I am using it.

              - When you sent I-693, did you send a with document that you started treatment?

My treatment began 10 or so years ago. We didn't add anything next to the sealed envelope.

The treatment is optional for I-693 purposes. It might be required by your state though. I would suggest you take these medications nevertheless. Shouldn't be any issue with you application at all thought. Good luck and keep us updated!

I have an interview in September, and my blood test was positive too for some reason. The x-ray is clear and I was told that the blood test was probably positive due to the BCG vaccine I got when I was young. I still have my last appointment with the civil surgeon tomorrow and I can update you on what they tell me as well as what happens in the interview.

They want proof of starting treatment in the latest application. (I'm sharing below)

They even said that I would be called in the health department and they would follow up. Did the same thing happen to you?

                    - Class B2 TB, Latent TB Infection

Applicants who have a positive IGRA, or history of a positive IGRA, and a chest x-ray not suggestive of tuberculosis disease. The IGRA result, the applicant’s status with respect to LTBI treatment, and the medication(s) used must be documented. For applicants who had more than one IGRA, all dates and results must be documented. All of these applicants must be reported to the health department of jurisdiction. The civil surgeon can treat these applicants for LTBI or refer them for treatment elsewhere, but the applicants do not have to complete treatment before they are medically cleared and their I-693 forms are completed, because LTBI is not a Class A condition

Really 10 years ago! Your case dates back 10 years then? Did I get right!

No. Our AOS case started 3 years ago. My high blood pressure started 10 years ago.

In your case, you follow the instructions of the civil surgeon and you just need to send the sealed envelope to USCIS. No extra documents.

I finished my medical form just a couple days ago as well and my blood test IGRA was positive while the X-RAY was clear. The civil surgeon told me that the blood test was probably +ve due to the BCG vaccine while I was young and I confirmed to him that I've taken the BCG vaccine when I was young. He told me that it messes up the IGRA test and that I'm still protected against TB; which is why the IGRA test was positive. He didn't ask to take any medications or anything at all. He choose Class B latent TB on the paperwork, signed and sealed them and gave them to me. There shouldn't be an issue with a Class B latent TB when it comes to the AOS process.

Congrats for done I-693. When will you sent it?

As the doctor gave me a lot of medicine, I said that I got vaccinated and that's why it will come out, but the doctor said that the blood test will not be affected by the vaccine (it was the skin test affected by the vaccine)

Also, they called from the health department and I felt bad about taking your medication.

Why is there such a difference, after all, the same things came out as you. (IGRA positive, X-Ray Clear ,Class B latent TB)

What is the different with you? Really I cant understand!

Thank you! We have an interview in September and we'll be taking the I-693 with us to the interview.

I think that the Doctor is required to report anyone with an active or latent TB test. I might have been reported as well. It might depend on the state though.

Don't feel bad about it. The medications are just for your protection and according to what I read it's not required for the AOS process though if the doctor recommends them they have to be documented on the form.
It depends on the civil surgeon. I read online that the BCG vaccine shouldn't affect the blood test too, but the civil surgeon told me that usually the effect of the vaccine is gone when people get the blood test and that's why it's affect is almost minimal. My numbers were barely more than the normal numbers. (0.40 instead of 0.31 or something like that).

Either way, I was prepared to take the medications if I had been asked to. And if I get a call from the local health department asking me to take medications I would probably take them too. It's just that different states have different rules but on the federal level it's all Class B latent TB that shouldn't affect the AOS.
