Hi all,
Following is the timeline of my AOS application, which should provide some context for my questions ahead
September 2019 - Got engaged to my wife (US Citizen). I'm on H1B with PD of November 2012, born in India)
November 2020 - Got married in a private ceremony
Dec 2020 - Filed I-130 online (to get a head-start on the process)
Jan 2021 - Filed I-485 by mail
No updates for a few months...
Then, lost a cousin and a few of my relatives during 2nd wave of Covid in India. So requested Emergency Advance Parole to see my family (H1B stamp had expired, and embassy wasn't open yet)
June 2021 - Requested emergency Advance Parole - Instead, they expedited entire application
June 2021 - Biometric scheduled (Late June 2021)
July 2021 - Biometrics couldn't be read, asked to come back
August 2021 - Gave 2nd set of biometrics. I could clearly see the capture wasn't good either, but the staff was extremely rude and dismissive, even though I got there very early and was polite.
2 days later, online status updated that Interview has been scheduled.
September 2021 - AOS Interview at USCIS office.
The interview seemed to go well. She first gave me bad news :-
1. I130 is still pending
2. Biometrics are still not complete.
I was quite confused as to why the interview was scheduled.
Nevertheless, went ahead with the interview. She asked a few simple questions from the I-485 application. Asked a couple of questions to my wife as well.
At that point, she said she didn't have enough information to make a decision today, and if we had anything additional.
I provided her with more pictures, along with travel records for the last 5 years, as well as joint tax return, bank statement, house deed etc.
She asked a couple of questions and said that she has enough information now to make a decision, but cannot enter it until the other 2 are taken care of.
Now, I'm being asked to wait for the Biometrics again.
Does anyone have any experience with multiple appointments for biometrics, especially around trouble capturing fingerprints? It's already happened twice, and honestly, have no faith if I get routed to the same center again.
Feeling a bit defeated by this whole ordeal - as someone who has always been in legal status for over 15 years.
