  • Immunization for I-1485

My dates are not current but still want to understand the immunization process:

1.) I know we have to get the immunization record from USCIS recommended civil surgeon:

a.) Does the civil surgeon accept insurance?

b.) I had my immunizations done in India but there is no record - Do I have to take the shots again.

2.) Can I take all the shots now and then re-use them when the date is current. I know the results have to be within 1 yr...so will that work ..or do we hae to take shots only after PD is current.

Thanks, i'm a little bit confused.

1A. You pay out of pocket in almost all the cases.

1B. That depends upon the kind of vaccine you had taken. You will have to discuss those with the physician.

    2. You can take them at any time. There is no one year validity rule for vaccines, as it is only for the medical exam.

      Thanks immihelp.

I have already had my vaccines done in India..can the records from India be acceptable by the civil surgeon here?

If I need the vaccines/immunity test done here, I'd prefer to do it via insurance.....in that case will the US vaccines/immunity test be acceptable by the civil surgeon.

      Thanks a lot.

        Hi,

I just completed my medical for i485 on Sep. 15th, 2010. I called several Civil Surgeon to check price and if they take any records for USCIS form. I had a USCIS medical done in 2005 and at that time they gave me all the shots required by USCIS, despite I was immunized in Sri Lanka, but I did not have any records to show.

I showed a copy of that record and this time they only drew blood and gave me TB skin test which I had to go back after 2 days to show my arm. It came out negative and they filled the form and sealed it and gave it to me with a copy for my self. No shots this time round.

Most Civil Surgeon that I called in Southern California does not accept insurance, credit card, checks. They all wanted cash. You must take any vaccines records that you have to show to the doctor. Base on that they might or might not give you certain shots that are required for USCIS medical form (i693)

        Hope this help.
