  • Interview completed! Approval on the spot

    HI Everyone,
Our marriage based interview was today and we got approved on the spot! Status updated to new card being produced 2 hours after the interview.
We interviewed in Tampa, FL office.
With our original submission we included all the evidence such as, joint apartment lease, USPS informed delivery, electricity, internet, phone bills, joint checking account, joint credit card accounts, joint tax return, joint costco, aarp, aaa memberships, social media presence, a lot of photos, cards from family and friend for holidays and of course all the civil documents. I had organized everything very neatly with table of contest and exhibits with explanation of what is what and what does it proof.

    The interview:
We were scheduled for 11:45, arrived 11:15, did not get to the interview until almost 1pm so we waited more than an hour. When we walked in the office swear us right away, then asked us to seat. The she asked for ID's and passports. Then she said she is going to start verifying information on form I 30 and proceed to verify address, names, work etc. with my husband( basically verifying the info from the application). Then she proceeded with I 485 application and verified the same plus all the yes and no questions. Then she asked How did we meet? My husband answered. Then she asked was there a proposal - my husband answered. That was it! Then she said I have everything I need to make a decision today! I showed her another folder with additional and updated documents and asked her if she needs anything from there she said no, I showed her our album which included family photos and wedding photos and ask her if she wants to see or take any photos and she said no - you already submitted a lot and I don't need anything else. She then said she will make a decision today and 2 hours later status changed to approved.
It was so easy and unbelievably quick. I spend days putting new evidence together and had photos from our formal wedding reception and family holidays, cards and so much more staff and she didn't even looked at anything.

    Update:
I just want to add a few things as I had people messaging me with some questions! The officer was nice and smiling but very professional. I really believe that she did not ask us a lot of questions and for additional documents only because the original submission had already a lot and showed a stable relationship and marriage. So take it seriously and make sure if you did not submit supporting documents already, then take some with you! They want to see joint accounts with both names for period of time, not just a month old account, especially if you have been married for an year or more. You have been told you will need to present proof, so they expect that. Dress your best! I cannot emphasize enough how important is that. You are going to a government's building to meet with an government employee- immigration officer to ask them to grant you a "grace" basically. The least you can do is dress your best. Remember that this is what USCIS post about adjustment of status applications:

"The grant of an application for adjustment of status under section 245 is a matter of administrative grace. An applicant has the burden of showing that discretion should be exercised in his favor."

Let me know if you have any questions! Good luck everyone!

Congratulations! I had the same experience as you, about 10 minute interview, and also I had already sent everything with my application so the officer didn’t take anything from us. The only question I have is: My status online changed to Case approved but not that the Card is being produced. How was for you? It got updated to card is being produced or case approved first? Thank you!

It changed yesterday and my interview was on Friday. Only I485 and I 130 is still Interview was scheduled but online was uploaded the approved notice to my husband account also. I’ll do that tomorrow if it doesn’t change to Card is being produced. Maybe it’s just something formal. Thank you for the response.

How were you able to get approval notice? I looked under my account and do not seem to find a spot where I can see any document uploaded

Under you case it’s the option sections and then if you click at your case status for I-485 it’s another option “documents”. That’s where I saw it. In my account and my husband’s account.

Of course not, I will attach a picture here. I have opened an account on WWW.USCIS.GOV and I always log in there because you can see more than the app. I think you have the instructions on the notices you received in the beginning of application.

Congrats on your approval! I'm happy for you.
I just started this journey last week.

                    I have a few questions:
Can you share your complete timeline?
Also where did you file? Chicago?
Did you file the I-130 online or did you mail it?
                    What's your field office?

                    Thanks in advance!

That’s weird. I don’t know why you don’t have these options on the website. I can see the same information at both accounts. Here it is a picture of the section.

I also wrote to Emma today and the agent told mine is being produced too. Please let me know when yours will mail, just to have and idea. Thank you.
