  • Generic question - Processing time after responding to a RFE

I responded to a RFE for my I-140 beginning of this month. With my dates being current, I am eagerly awaiting a decision on my I-140 for my I-485 to be processed and hopefully before end of this immigration calendar year. Do you know how long does USCIS typically take to process a response to a RFE? My I-140 was originally filed in early Jan 2021 so it is now well over 16 months since my I-140 was originally received by USCIS. I was guessing that for cases where the processing times is well past, they might process the RFE response sooner. Could someone suggest?

It varies so there is no way to know how long will it take. Do you have a valid I-693? (Sorry I don't remember)

In our case, they took 5 months to approve the GC after the last RFE (this was last year).
Nov 2018 - Package sent - EB - Texas Service Center
Day 1 - Package received at the lockbox
Day 999 - Card delivered to me - Aug 2021

I didn't submit my medicals along with my I485 so that's another step before I get my GC but currently stuck at I140 approval. They issued a RFE and I responded to the RFE earlier this month. Keeping my fingers crossed that it gets approved soon so my 485 can start progressing.

The worst part about my 485 is that it was originally with NBC but was transferred to Nebraska because my I140 was pending there but looks like now all 485s are being transferred to NBC so that's a needless additional step.
