  • 1-485 success story

Thank you to Daru and anyone who answered my questions throughout my AOS marriage based journey. I really appreciate this site for helping me along the way.

I got married May 2010 to my US citizen husband. I filed cocurrently I-130, I-485 and 1-765 concurrently July 31, 2010. USCIS Received it Aug 5, 2010,

Biometrics was done August 27, 2010
I-765 Work authorization was received October 1,2010
AOS I-485 interview was done October 7, 2010

Green card ordered October 15, 2010

During the interview they separated my husband and I and asked us

    1. Where did we meet
    2. How long we dated for, where did we go on our first and second date
    3. Who brought up marriage, who proposed to whom? When did it happen, where did it happen
    4. Where was the wedding kept, How many people were at the wedding
    5. What is the color of the front door handle, which side is the door on.
    6. How many rooms are downstairs our house, What paintings if any are on the walls, what are in the paintings
    7. What are the colour furniture in our living room
    8. How many bedrooms are upstairs, what are the color of the walls.
    9. How many pieces of furniture in our bedroom, name them.
    10. What colour is the sheet on the bed
    11. When was the last time we consummated our marriage
    12. Describe our back yard..what accessories are in the backyard
    13. Have we met each other family..what are their names etc
They also asked us basic information that were already listed on the forms we filed.

I couldn't remember the door handle and I gave them the wrong answer for the side of the door. My husband didn't remember my sister's name. I couldn't remember what exactly was in the paintings on the wall. After the interview the interviewer told me they had to review it and I will get a decision 3-6 weeks. However, he said if they need anything they would rfe us. When I was there it was obvious that other interviewer had told the people they interviewed on the spot that they were approved so when I came home I was worrying myself although our marriage is real. I prayed and my entire family prayed for me. I even emailed Daru on here and he encouraged me. Tonight, October 15, I got an email from the USCIS site that they have ordered production of my card!!!!! Thank the good Lord for answering my prayers.
If anyone have any questions to ask feel free to ask and I'll gladly answer as long as I know the answer.

I'll give an update when I get the physical card in my hand!!! By the way, I didn't use a lawyer.

You got a replacement and that required filing an I-102, you are in their system. Give them what you have and they can look you up.

Your fiance filed an I-129F to get you a K-1, so as long as you married that person within 90 days of entry, no I-130 is required.

If you waited beyond 90 days to marry the fiance that got you your K-1, you need an I-130.

If you did not marry the fiance that got you your K-1, you can't adjust. You would have to leave and get an immigrant visa based on an I-130 filed by the new spouse.
