I-485 Interfile vs Refile New Application? (Employment based)

Hello all,

My priority date is July 2014.

• I have both EB 2 and EB 3 I-140 approvals
• I-485 application filed in Oct 2020 under EB 3 with a new I-140 application. EB 3 I-140 approved 7 months ago.
• My employer has agreed to interfile on June 1st 2022 to move from EB 3 to EB 2 as my priority date becomes current.
• I am interested in knowing if there are any advantages or disadvantages to filing a NEW EB 2 application in conjunction with interfiling.
• I would be responsible for paying all the fees for a new application so I am wondering if it is worth spending that money?

Except for a fact that you can track and get updates on a new 485, I don't see any other advantage. I would just ask you to interfile and not spend again for another 485. This is what USCIS recommends as well. This is just my opinion though.
