I recd my I485 pending on 1/2003. My wife's employer was the sponsor. On 9/2006 we both recd request from USCIS to send in more details. We did. By 11/2006 she recd her GC and so did my kid. I did not and still have not. Within the next 2 years my wife and kid will receive their citizenship.

Once my wife gets her citizenship will I be able to re-file my case? or are there any other steps that i will be eligible for or avail off to expedite my case?

my I485 mentions 'section - derivative adjustment'

You must call the USCIS to find out what the delay/problem is. Call 8:00 am sharp eastern time. Make sure you wife is with you when you call.
In the other case scenario, once is a USC, she can file an I-130 for you and whole process should take no more than 4 to 6 months.
I would still suggest you to check with the USCIS on you initial case. How did you enter US, were you married to her abroad or you got married here?
