  • Filing Status - Interview

    Hello,

We have sent an AOS for spouse, RD January 2022, we are still waiting for the EAD/AP. We are considering filing the tax returns as Married Filing Separate since the beneficiary is not required to file a tax return. My question is would taking only the petitioner's one tax return to the interview cause an issue? Is it better to take a Married Filing Joint return for "comingle finance" purposes?

Does anyone have any experience in the interview with this? Any response is appreciated.

From what I read, most people file married filing jointly for immigration purposes. Others file whatever option makes more sense to pay fewer taxes.

I am under the impression that filing jointly is the better option at least most of the time.

Hello Enub4, thank you for the response.

Would anyone else happen to have any other recommendation or experience?
