I- 485 Filing Deadline

I entered the US on a K-1 Visa on September 5, 2010 and was married on October 10. For financial reasons we have not yet filed the I-485 for adjustment of status. The I-94 A form in my passport has Dec. 4th listed as the deadline. We plan to file the I-485 on Dec. 15th.

My question is:

Must we file the I-485 before Dec.4th and if we do not, am I breaking any immigration laws?

The only law is that you marry within 90 days on a K1 visa. While the USCIS suggests you file AOS asap, there is no law on the books that says you have to file or a timeline. You application will not be affected by when you file as far as approval. You are technically overstaying your visa until you file so best to get it done quickly.

Do you know the fees increase November 23 and you will pay more if not postmarked by Nov.22? Now $1010. November 23 $1070.
