  • i-485 approved! yay! Still have a question. Help!

Family (spouse) based adjustment of status.

Aug 11 - application package received by uscis
    Sept 10 - Biometrics
    Sept 20 - AP approved
    Sept 22 - EAD approved
Oct 1 - received interview notice
    Nov 15 - I-485 interview: pending result
    Nov 16 - I-485 approval

Question: Are AP and EAD now invalid? Thank you!

  • #2
Yes. Why do AP and EAD matter now when you have the 485 approved? Are you planning on travel before getting the GC in your hand? If so, get a I551 stamp from local office.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

Oh I thought the stamp was only given at the interview. Thanks! I do want to travel soon and not sure when the physical card will arrive.

You will get the card in 10 days max. Not a good idea to travel without the physical card or I551 stamp.

You are totally right. That's what we have decided as well. They mailed me EAD card 4 days after the day I saw it become approved online. Nowadays things are done by them much faster i guess.

Basically it was like a lovely chat. We showed that gentleman our photos and he wants to know those vacation stories. We also brought more proof/statements of joint documents. He made copies and kept some of them. Oh there were specific questions asked! They all can be found on those forms we submitted. Very basic identity questions. There are no other specific question asked. No Q&A at all like people say in this forum. I guess every case is different.

We made copies of every document requested except the I-94; I lost it. We took a ton of photos and document showing joint liabilities such as bills, insurance, ect. The interview was painless. He did not ask any question pertaining to our marriage. He ask generic questions concerning criminal history and other questions which had nothing to do with proving a valid spousal relationship. The interview took about 5 minutes; but we had several sleepless nights leading up to it. As long as you are honest and provide the documents requested, you should not have any problems. I paid a lawyer 2500 to file the documents for me. It made the process much easier. I got notification today that my green card was approved. Good luck with yours!

It's been a week after mine approved. I still haven't received the card yet. This is killing me because we need to travel less than two weeks. I don't have any stamp and will probably have to infopass that stamp again. What about you Medic800? Have you got the card yet?

Medic800 -- I received my card today. Here is my timeline. I had interview one day earlier than you, received Welcome Letter two days after interview, and got card in mail exactly 10 days after the interview.
