What to ask employer - if layoff is imminent?

Hi,

I have filed for AOS 3 weeks back.
I guess my layoff is imminent.
I would like to findout what is required from the employers' side so that the GC process would have a high chance of "not being rejected".

Any thoughts about the following:
1. Get a leave of absence till you hit 180 days.
2. Get a letter from the employer saying that the job is open in future (once i get the GC).
