  • NYC - scheduled for Interview - Marriage based

    Hi all,

We are both Canadians. We have our interview scheduled for October 6th in Federal Plaza. Please share experiences, dos, don'ts, best practices etc. My only question is, only I received an interview letter even though we are applying via my spouse via Eb1 category. We are both planning to attend the interview. But, just wanted to know if my spouse will also receive an interview letter or just the one I received will suffice.

    Appreciate your help in advance.

Tips for the EB-1 visa interview
    • Be prepared to answer questions about your relationship, your spouse's job, and your plans for the future in the United States.
    • Bring supporting documentation, such as your marriage certificate, joint tax returns, and photos of the two of you together.
    • Dress professionally and be polite and respectful to the consular officer.

    Dos:
    • Arrive on time for your interview.
    • Bring all of the required documentation.
    • Be prepared to answer questions about your relationship and your spouse's job.
    • Be honest and truthful in your answers.
    • Be polite and respectful to the consular officer.

    Don'ts:
    • Be late for your interview.
    • Forget to bring any of the required documentation.
    • Lie or exaggerate in your answers.
    • Argue with the consular officer.

    Best practices:
    • Practice answering common interview questions with your spouse.
    • Bring a copy of your interview letter for each of you.
    • Be prepared to explain why your spouse is eligible for an EB-1 visa and why you want to live in the United States.

    Your question:

It is normal for only the primary applicant to receive an interview letter. However, it is perfectly fine for both spouses to attend the interview. In fact, it is often helpful for both spouses to be there to answer questions about the relationship and the spouse's job.

I hope this information is helpful. Good luck with your interview!
