Does anyone know if the below instructions for I-864 taken from the USCIS website are correct? It seems odd to me that if you're in the USA you need to file I-864 to DOS instead of the USCIS lockbox with the I-485. Is it just me?

You do not "file" I-864 as an I-485 applicant; rather, you file I-485, and I-864 is a supporting document required for the I-485. You do not need to pay a separate fee for this (other than the fee for I-485).Last edited by newacct; 10-07-2023, 12:39 AM.
This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.
