I-485 question

HI,
I-485 is pending for me and my husband, I being the primary applicant. Looking into the process status, it seems we'll get the green card within one year of time. Now, my husband is in a situation to go back to India and stay there for 1 to 2 years. Will this result in abondoning his greencard process? Is there any way to continue his process?
If his I485 is cancelled, can I reapply a fresh green card process for him, how long it will take for hime to get the green card?
(It is to be noted that we are married 5 years ago in India).

He is not going to abandon his greencard. If you want, you can request that he do consular processing in India, by fiilng Form I-824.

It is not advisable to start fresh green card for him as it will take 7 years.
