1-485 filing without passport

ok here is my predicament, recently i was told to hand in my passport by immigration since i had overstayed my visa, they havent given me a hearing date but im assuming they want to ask me to leave. im in the process of gaining my new passport but in the meatime i plan to marry my girlfriend that way i short circuit that immigratiion hearing i have with the judge, question is can i file for that i-485 without a passport? and what do i need to file?

Check USCIS site and it will tell you all about I-485 AOS but yes you need your passport as you are the beneficiary.
