Hi,
We had our fingerprinting done at INS, Newark NJ last week. They have implemented the appointment system very well. Each one is given an appointment in 1 hour block. They have notices saying that you can be at the most 15 minutes earlier for your appt. This eliminates the crowding and slowing down at later hours of the day.
THERE IS NO NEED TO GO EARLY IN THE MORNING TO WAIT IN THE LINE. Incidentally, suggestions from my friends who got their FP done there recently made me decide to take the day off. AND IT IS NOT NEEDED AT ALL.
The whole process from the time we stepped in to the bldg took only 30 minutes.

PS: Even though we went at 8:45 AM for an 10 AM appt., since there was no crowd at all, they took us in without saying anything.
