I am a non-immigrant (K-1 visa, AOS & EAD in process) married to a US citizen. I know I'm not allowed to apply for any kind of governmental or federal benefits, but I'm wondering if my husband is?
We are trying to move out of his parents' house (by the way, his father is the household member on the affidavit of support) but we're not sure if they're going to approve our application to rent an apartment (he's not making that much). Can he apply for food stamps, rent assistance or any kind of benefit that can help us meet the requirements to rent a place?

    Thank you.

I don't see why not. My personal interview experience, they never ask you if you did or did not!
