  • notice of interview cancellation by uscis

    hi everyone,
I'm currently applying greencard for my wife (we live in LA county). We rec'd an appointment letter last week scheduling her adjustment of status interview at the end of this month. But just yesterday we rec'd another letter fr USCIS stating the scheduled interview has been canceled due to 'unforeseen circumstances.' I called USCIS but can only reach someone who only answers general questions. I was wondering if anyone has similar experiences before and may shed some light on what might be going on here. Thank you all so much!

I have read a simlar story on anotjer site and what was suggested that this seemed quite strange bbut was advised to arrive on the 1st scheduled date. Take letter with you and then they will either see you or make you come back.

      Notice of Cancellation

      Hi,

We have exactly the same issue and we're also in LA. We too received a letter scheduling our interview for March 30th only to then receive another letter today saying it had been cancelled 'due to unforeseen circumstances'.

We've done some reading up on the web and the best advice seems to be to go to the original interview regardless, even if you receive a letter rescheduling. Some people say they have not gone to the original interview due to receiving a cancellation letter only to then be informed shortly afterward their application has been denied as they didn't attend the interview!

Any how it does sound quite common, we were a bit freaked out at first!

      Good luck!

        Same letter.

        Hey,

I also live in the LA area, I myself am applying through my wife and just had the same letter today to say that my original appt of March 30th was going to be rescheduled. Very Strange..I will be calling my lawyer to find out more on Monday. Will post any clarification I get on here for sure!

I got really freaked out myself when I got home and saw that letter....

        Good luck everyone!

Sounds like a pattern doesn't it but I would not risk it as I have heard the same story if you don't show they will deny AOS for not attending interview.

There is no way in hell that they would deny your petition if you don't show up for your interview after you receive a cancellation letter.
Rumors are that there is a major backlog and they might be also doing some restructuring...........................

Excuse me I have heard of many cases on another site that for not turning up at interview AOS has been denied, And in this case a few people have received this mail by mistake.

I remember reading 3 or 4 posts about cancelled interviews back in 2009 when people didn't go and waited to get rescheduled. Instead they got denial letters because they didn't come to their interview. Whether it was a computer glitched that cancelled or glitch that didn't put them back on the schedule I don't know. They had to get their cases re-opened.
