Working before EAD... HELP!!!!!

Hi everyone. Long time lurker first time poster. I need some clarification on something. I am currently on a J1 and have applied for an adjustment of status. I am waiting for my EAD to come through. My visa is good for another month and I am expecting the EAD to take about 2 months to come through.

My question is am I able to stay in my current job while I wait for the EAD to come through? I am working in a job that I would like to stay in so I dont want to have to quite for a month and then go to the trouble of trying to get it back.

Risk!

I suggest do the right thing. Once you apply for AOS, try to stay away from working without authorization. I know it could be hard, but once your J1 authorization expires, do not engage in any kind of work until you receive your EAD. It will be better for you. You don't want ICE to be on your case.
