about Marriage with US Citizen Girl

Hello, i have some question regarding marraige to US citizen Girl.
1) First of all i am international student from India. my visa expire in Sep-2011 my fiance wants me to get marry with her before my visa get expire. she is US Citizen. so first of all how we can change my visa satus to Greencard. which form do i have to fill up and where i have to sumbit all those docouments.
2) i heard go to the Lawyer is good option..? it is kind of hard to do it by our self..?
so basscally i trying to know each single Procced to change my visa satus from Student visa to Greencard holder. and this processe take how may months..?

If you marry before your visa expires you will need to apply for I-485 as well as I-130. You will not be able to leave the country either till your GC is approved and these take 4-6 months. If you choose to marry and want to go back to India she then can file CR1 spousal visa for you while you are at home and you wait for interview and visa approval.(approx 6-7 months) If CR1 is approved you then arrive in the US with GC stamp in passport and are able to work right away too.
