  • AOS Interview Query

My AOS marriage based interview has been scheduled. We do not have an attorney.. we don't intend to hire one either. Do you have tips or success stories to share?

No experience as I did not have an interview but just be honest and take all the evidence that is required to prove your marriage is bonafide and good luck oh and don't stress as some people have said it has been ok and not many questions asked at all.

        Same

Hello, we have the same situation. We hire a lawyer to prepare all the papers in the right way. Thing are moving pretty fast. We received letter of submission on Jan 31, 2011 and March 1-st I went for the fingerprints. And we have our interview on April 21 in Buffalo. We don't intend to take a lawyer either, because they can't change anything, they stay there quiet and listen + waste of money for him to come from NYC (flight a-st class, hotel, food + money). We don't need this headache. So we have all possible papers. We are married 5 moths till now, so all evidence that we have we prepare it. You can't take more than you can.
Good luck to you guys and GOD BLESS

thank you so much..good luck to you too.. yea .. the process has been prompt and smooth so far.. we have every piece of evidence to back every piece of information on the forms.. However, would you recommend taking telephone records of my husband and i? we have been dating since 2008..married for 3 months...living together for 8 months. I can access the phone records for the previous 12 months but the phone service provider said they would charge me $5 for every additional monthly record.. this would add to hundreds of pages ..does it make sense?
do let me know how ur intv goes.. ours is 5 days after urs

            Big question

Also, how important is it to carry Bank Statements for the AOS? We do have joint accounts, but I do not have sufficient activity on his a/c and neither does my husband on mine. You see, I am currently unemployed, so I do not want to go on a spending spree meagerly to show account activity . We do have everything else joint though.. except his vehicle which I don't like driving..feels too big for me .. We have plenty photos, emails, greeting cards. I feel like this is driving me nuts!

            THANK YOU

You will definitely need joint bank accounts, does not mean you have to use them just have them in both names or at least have your name added to account and cards. You will need joint rental lease or mortgage deed. Photos are good from wedding, you don't need calls for AOS as you are married and living together now. Emails either this is all for your K1 which is done. Any life insurance and also your medical insurance you have family?

ALSO, we have air tickets of trips taken, but no boarding passes.. I have the habit of saving documents, but those tiny boarding passes usually get misplaced in books,etc.. does it matter if we carry the air tickets and NO Boarding passes?

thank you sharpy.. i am going to stop reading horror stories on AOS experiences, the internet is filled with so many negative stories, it drives me nuts! my husband is the calm one here, but I have been a little hyper about things like documents, etc for as long as i remember! lol
