NEED guidelines for filing i-485!! HELP!

Hi, my husband and i were trying to file 1-485 for my husband.
but im little confused..
my questions are:
1. do i have to send the 1-i30 forms with attachments first to get an approval?
2. i do understand which forms i need to send but not sure about the steps.
if anyone can (experienced) tell me which forms goes first?
like 1. 1-i30 forms 2. interview 3. approved form 4. send i-485 forms 5. finger print 6. then whats next? or did i missed any? or something wrong with the order?
