I 485 pending after months

I have a friend whose i-485 is still pending till date its past 3 -4 months now has not gotten anything from uscis..and all of a sudden his wife and him are having troubles matter of fact they might call it off is it possible for the wife or the husband to go to uscis and cancel the all process.

Yes they can notify USCIS to have the 485 cancelled.

Yes they can notify USCIS to have the 485 cancelled.

Withdrawing an I-485, does not mean that is the end, the reason why it was withdrawn will rear its ugly head in a subsequent application if ever there is any and if you meet a Hawk IO/AO, it will be a source of a BIG obstacle to surmount. Make sure you keep all evidence why you are withdrawing the application, that this marriage was in good faith but went sour.
