  • Immigration Lawyer, yes or no?

    Hi there,

My wife (US Citizen) and I (Irish Citizen) have methodically filled out the following forms.

    i-130
    i-131 (travel)
    i-485
    i-693 (blood work pending)
    i-765
    i-864
    g-325a (mine and hers)
    g-1145

I guess what I'm wondering is, despite our very careful approach to all of this, should we have a lawyer file our forms for us or is it possible to be successful without one?

thanking you for your wisdom in advance!

    Sean

    sean,

if your case is straight-forward (i.e.no complications with overstay, criminal record..assuming it is 100% clean and genuine), you do not need a lawyer. it would depend on your case. my husband and i filed our petition without a lawyer and got approved, i received my GC today.. took a total of under 4 months. the process drained me out, but the interview was a breeze!

thank you! yes our case is 100% clean, I'm glad to hear that it's possible to do it without, the lawyers I spoke to were only too eager to get involved! Congratulations, four months is very quick or so I hear!
