I think the answer to your question should be NO. Because you can only file I-485 when your petition for immigrant visa is approved and PD is current. Your
I-94 should be current at the time of filling I-485. Once you file the I-485 & is accepted (I repeat accepted) by the INS you will get a receipt to the effect. I think you have to file petition for EAD if your I-94 is about to run out in next few months. This is not a legal advice. Check with a lawyer.
