  • Hi all...Should i stay in home country?

    This is my first post

I must say I am very impressive by the vast amount of materials this forum covers- I AM IMPRESS

I am current living in Jamaica, my boyfriend lives in the US-and wants more than anything for me to join him there.

We plan on getting married, however he is currenlty a permanent resisdent, have already done fingerprint on his way to be a citizen.

I have a 10 year visa, and visit him at least 10 times since we met in 2009.

I am wondering if it would be wise for me to get married there and stay until my documents are sorted or better if i return home?

    thanks

If you get married to him while he is permanent resident, you can't stay in the U.S. based on that.

If he is U.S. citizen when you get married to him, you can immediately file I-130 and I-485 and then you can stay in the U.S.

      Thanks,

Do you think we could get marry a week after he gets citizenship?
      Or we should wait awhile?
